The project “New Communities for the Mental Care” is part of a wider programme of functional and energetic requalification for the Centro San Giovanni di Dio.
The housing development consists of two residential bodies located on a double-height services block in a comb pattern. The regular distribution of spaces and functional bodies is the result of a combined design that was explicitly aimed at final users.
The Structure/Envelope (S/E) technology allows to reduce energy consumption (thanks to the high-performance of the hyper-insulated envelope) and speed up construction works. The complex sanitary equipment was further completed by systems for the utilization of renewable energy sources.
